The U.S. government will allocate 18 million Zimbabwe dollars for the fight against HIV / AIDS, Reuters reports, citing the joint statement of U.S. Ambassador to Zimbabwe Christopher Della and of African Ministers of Health by David Parireniyatva.
About 15 million will be spent on acquiring retroviral drugs for HIV / AIDS treatment for three years and about 3 million - to conduct tests during this period. These funds will enable a further 40 thousand people to receive treatment under the government program to combat the disease.
Zimbabwe is one country where a more complex situation with the spread of HIV / AIDS. Every week in the country from HIV / AIDS are dying more than 3 thousand people. Despite this Zimbabwe is one of the few African countries which have achieved reduction in the incidence rate from 25% to 18.1% in the last 6 years.
